Trees and Plants
Online Map of Trees, Shrubs, Monuments, and Walks
The Mary Price Ratrie Arboretum features more than 200 species of woody trees and shrubs, with numerous mature specimens beautifully distributed throughout the grounds.
You can explore these, along with selected monuments and additional information, on the Plantsoon website, linked at the bottom of this page.
Site Navigation
- Floras – This section provides details about many of the trees and shrubs thriving in the arboretum. Trees are marked with a tree icon on the map, and numbers indicate clusters of plants growing in close proximity. You can use the search bar to locate a specific plant by its Latin or common name.
- Collections – Although we are a small arboretum, we feature several curated collections of the same species. You will also find additional plant groupings, along with grouped monuments. By following the route of the Angel Monument Collection, you can enjoy a delightful 5K walk, run, or drive that takes you through all parts of the cemetery.
- Zones – These designated areas typically define a route that may follow the roads, woodland trails, or a combination of both. For first-time visitors, the Short Walk is highly recommended, as it includes monuments, plants, and scenic viewpoints.
- Assets – This page primarily features monuments and shares the history of Charleston through the individuals interred at Spring Hill.
The (AAA) Information Booth, located on the Assets page, provides a list of events, maps, and other resources available on the Plantsoon site to enhance your visit to the arboretum.
